Pool jobs we take on

An above-ground pool that nobody swims in anymore takes up the best part of the yard, and once the liner tears or the wall rusts, it is hard to sell or give away. Rapid Haul takes the whole thing apart and hauls it off, along with the deck or steps built around it.

Here is what fits this service:

  • Above-ground pools: steel, resin and soft-sided, with liner, walls, rails and uprights
  • Wood decks and steps built around an above-ground pool
  • Pool deck surfaces: old wood decking and concrete pool deck slabs
  • Pool ladders, steps and handrails
  • Old pumps, filters and pool equipment, once disconnected
  • Hot tubs and spas, once the power is disconnected

No in-ground pool demolition

Rapid Haul does not demolish, break out or fill in in-ground pools. That is structural work with its own engineering, permits and inspections, and it belongs to a company set up for it. If you have an in-ground pool, Dany can still help with the pool deck around it or haul the debris your builder leaves, but the pool shell itself is not his job.

For anything Rapid Haul does take on, the general contractor or property owner pulls any permit needed. Pool pumps, lights and hot tubs run on electricity, so an electrician has to disconnect and cap the power before the crew touches them. Any gas line to a pool heater has to be shut off and capped by your gas company or a plumber.

If you are not sure what kind of pool you have, send a photo. A pool with walls that sit on top of the ground, even one wrapped in a deck, is usually a fit. A pool shell set into the ground is not.

Draining and the price

Before removal day, the pool needs to be drained. Check your city's rules on where pool water can go, since some places limit draining into storm drains or onto a neighbor's yard. A pool full of water is not something the crew can take apart.

Once it is empty, Dany prices the job from photos: one of the whole pool, one of any deck around it, and one of the path to the street. The flat price covers taking it apart, cutting walls into carryable pieces, loading, hauling and disposal. What moves it is size, how much deck is attached, whether there is a concrete pad, and how far the carry is. You get one number before the crew comes out.

Jobs of $1,000 and over take a 50% deposit to hold the date, with the balance due at the end.

Pool decks in Broward and Miami-Dade

Pool decks here take constant sun, chlorine and rain, and wood decking around a pool tends to rot from below while looking fine on top. Concrete pool decks crack and lift with settling soil and roots. When a deck needs replacing, Rapid Haul can tear out the old surface and haul it away so your installer starts clean.

If the pool stays and only the deck goes, remember that Florida pools need a barrier. Plan with your installer so the pool is not left open, and keep kids and pets out of the area during the work. Condo and HOA pools usually have their own management rules, so the request should come from the association.

Hot tubs on the same visit

Many yards with an old pool also have an old hot tub. Once an electrician has disconnected it, the crew can cut it down or carry it out whole, depending on access, and haul it with the rest. There is a separate hot tub removal page with more detail. Kristy K. said the crew "kept me updated to arrival time," which helps when you are lining up an electrician the same week.

After the crew is done

The pool, deck and equipment are gone, and the patch of ground where the pool sat is raked level enough to walk on. The sand base under an above-ground pool can stay for new sod or be hauled too if you ask. Screws, liner scraps and bits of wall are picked up, so the yard is safe for kids and pets.

  4. Step 4

Pool Deck & Above-Ground Pool Removal: common questions

Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.

How much does above ground pool removal cost?

It depends on the pool size, any deck around it, and access. Text photos to (754) 249-1015 and Dany will send one flat price that includes hauling.

Do you remove in-ground pools?

No. Rapid Haul does not demolish or fill in in-ground pools. It can tear out and haul pool deck surfaces and haul debris for your builder.

Do I have to drain the pool first?

Yes. Drain it before removal day, following your city's rules on where the water can go.

Can you take the hot tub too?

Yes, once an electrician has disconnected it. It can be added to the same visit and the same flat price.

Do you remove the sand under the pool?

If you want it gone, mention it with your photos and it gets added to the price. Many people keep it as a base for sod.

How soon can you do it?

Once the pool is drained and the power is off, Dany schedules the next open date. Call or text Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.
