How North Miami Beach bulk pickup works

North Miami Beach is not on Miami-Dade County's garbage service. The City uses its own vendor, Coastal Waste & Recycling (customer service 305-384-7649). Street bulk runs on a zone schedule, and the City posts an interactive map so you can find your date. Alley bulk is picked up only once a month, and there is no collection on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

The City takes furniture, boxes, general household debris, yard clippings and leaves. Trees and shrubs must be cut to 5 feet or less, clippings and leaves must be bagged, and yard waste goes in its own pile away from the bin. Only 20 cubic yards can be picked up at an individual residence at once, and the City assesses a Special Bulk Trash charge for yards over that.

Stack bulk neatly in the swale for street pickup, or behind the property for alley pickup, with alley piles no more than 5 feet long. Keep it off sidewalks and water meter boxes. And during storm season, the City says plainly: do not put bulk out before a storm.

Appliances, tires and remodel debris: the gaps

Three kinds of junk trip people up here. Household appliances are picked up only by special request, with an extra fee. Construction and remodeling debris, concrete, dirt and sod are not accepted at all. Tires, toxic and highly flammable materials, vehicles, boats, trailers and motors are refused too.

Rapid Haul fills those gaps. A dead fridge, a washer and dryer pair or an old water heater can go the same day you call, with appliance removal from $100. A remodel pile of cabinets, tile and drywall goes as construction debris, from $200. Nothing has to sit in the swale waiting for your zone to come around.

Tear-outs and permits in North Miami Beach

Building and trade permits in North Miami Beach are issued by the City of North Miami Beach Building Department at 17011 NE 19th Avenue (305-947-7581), which runs an online self-service portal for applications. The City's pages do not spell out demolition-specific rules, so check with the department on your job.

Rapid Haul does not pull permits. The GC or the property owner handles that. Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out (kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, drywall) and hauls every piece away. Room demo starts at $750, with a 50% deposit on jobs of $1,000 and over.

Owners, landlords and condo buildings

North Miami Beach has about 15,600 households, and roughly half the homes are owner-occupied, so the work splits between owners clearing out and landlords turning units over. The city has about 17,100 housing units in all. After the 2021 Surfside collapse, the City stepped up building inspections and enforcement and condemned Crestview Towers, a 10-story condominium.

For a move-out on a deadline, the City schedule is the problem. Alley bulk comes monthly, appliances need a special request, and a lease end does not wait for either. Rapid Haul works across the city's neighborhoods, including Eastern Shores, Uleta, Fulford, Highland Village, Skylake, Sunray East, Sunray West and Washington Park.
