Junk removal in Coral Gables, from estate cleanouts to remodel debris the city won't collect
Estate and house cleanouts, furniture and appliance pickup, and non-structural tear-out across Coral Gables. Text Dany a photo and get one flat, all-in price.
01What Coral Gables trash service covers for a house, and what it bills
Coral Gables collects its own trash at single-family homes. The Public Works Solid Waste Division picks up in front of the property once a week. Duplexes, apartment buildings and commercial properties are different: they use Waste Management of Dade County, so check with your manager or association if you live in one.
For houses, the city's trash page says the weekly pickup takes up to 1 cubic yard of trash (about 3 ft by 3 ft), and excess trash is billed at $15 per cubic yard. Larger items have their own rules on the city's trash page:
- Furniture (couches, bed frames, tables, mattresses, box springs) can go out after 6 p.m. the evening before your collection day
- Appliances (stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, wine coolers, grills) must be scheduled in advance, propane tank removed
- Furniture and appliance collection costs $50 per item
- No construction material and no hazardous materials such as paint, pesticides or household chemicals
- Cardboard in a trash pit can bring a violation of up to $500
- Trash pits cannot sit within five feet of trees or on top of drains or water meters
02Estate cleanouts in Coral Gables
With furniture at $50 a piece, a full house adds up fast at the curb. A living room, three bedrooms, a dining set and a garage of appliances is dozens of items, each one scheduled, carried out and fitted around the evening-before rule. That is the job Rapid Haul is built for: one walk-through, one flat price, everything carried out and hauled in a single visit.
Dany has done this here. A Coral Gables estate cleanout is one of Rapid Haul's confirmed jobs. Families settling an estate, sellers getting a house ready to list and executors working from out of town usually want the same things: the house cleared, nothing left on the swale for the neighbors to look at, and one person to deal with. House cleanouts start at $1,000 and take a 50% deposit; smaller jobs are paid after the work is done.
Dany's posts also include a deck demo with a Coral Gables location tag, worked from the water side of a canal lot. Dock and deck tear-outs come up on waterfront homes, and deck demo starts at $550.

03Tear-outs, Development Services and the historic sign-off
Coral Gables will not collect construction material at the curb, so every kitchen, bath or flooring tear-out here needs a hauler. Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out (cabinets, counters, vanities, tile, flooring, drywall) and hauls it the same visit. Room demo starts at $750; if your crew already did the demo, debris hauling starts at $200.
Demolition permits come from the City of Coral Gables Development Services Department. Before one is issued, the city's zoning code adds a step most places do not have: all demolition permits for non-designated buildings must be approved by the Historic Preservation Officer, and that approval is valid for 18 months unless the demolition permit is issued. The Historical Resources office is at 2327 Salzedo Street, 305-460-5093.
Your general contractor or you as the owner pulls the permit and handles the historic review. Rapid Haul does not pull permits and never touches anything that holds up the house. Once the paperwork is in place, Dany schedules the tear-out and the haul.
04Mediterranean Revival homes and a planned city
Coral Gables incorporated on April 29, 1925, as a planned community. Its buildings are almost entirely Mediterranean Revival, which the original plan required, and the city has strict zoning and a historic preservation program going back to its first ordinance in 1973. The 1920s themed Coral Gables Villages and the Miracle Mile shopping street are both part of that story.
For a cleanout crew, that means older homes with real furniture: heavy wood pieces, built-up storage, and items that have to come down stairs and out through doorways nobody wants scratched. The crew protects floors and frames on the way out and sweeps each room once it is empty. The 2020 Census counted 49,248 residents and 21,868 housing units.

Coral Gables: common questions
Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.
What does Coral Gables charge to pick up furniture?
The city's trash page lists a $50 fee per item for furniture and appliance collection. Appliances have to be scheduled in advance, and furniture can go out after 6 p.m. the night before your collection day.
Will the city take my old kitchen cabinets?
No. Coral Gables does not collect construction material, so remodel debris needs a hauler. Rapid Haul hauls it from $200, or does the tear-out and haul together from $750.
Do I need historic approval to demolish anything in Coral Gables?
The zoning code says all demolition permits for non-designated buildings must be approved by the Historic Preservation Officer, valid for 18 months. Your general contractor or you as the owner handles that with the city before work starts.
Can you clear a whole estate in one visit?
Usually, yes. Send photos of each room and Dany prices the whole house at once. House cleanouts start at $1,000, with a 50% deposit on jobs of $1,000 and over.
My building uses Waste Management. Does that change anything?
Multi-family and commercial properties, including duplexes, use Waste Management of Dade County, not the city crew. Ask your manager about bulk rules and elevator or loading times, then send Dany a photo.
