Surfside's own pickup: what the Town publishes

Surfside handles its own collection through Public Works at 9293 Harding Avenue. It is not one of the cities Miami-Dade's Department of Solid Waste Management serves, so the county's bulky waste appointment system does not apply here. The Town's 2026 calendar sets it out by day:

• Household trash: Monday to Friday
• Vegetation: Tuesday
• Bulk: Wednesday
• Recycling: Thursday

Limits, and what the Town leaves to you

The Town has not published a bulk volume limit or a list of excluded bulk items, so if you are clearing a lot at once, call Public Works at 305.861.4863 before you stack it up. What it has published: trash bags must not go over 50 pounds, bundles are limited to four feet, and residents may set out up to four cubic yards of landscape trimmings on pickup day. Trimmings must never sit out on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Gardeners and commercial landscapers have to haul away their own trimmings and debris. Debris that is not bagged or bundled properly is a code violation. Tear-out waste from a remodel is better planned as a private haul than left for Wednesday. That is the job Rapid Haul does: the crew carries it out of the unit or the house and takes it away the same trip, so nothing waits at the curb over a weekend.

A quick way to think about it: the Town's pickup is built for household trash, trimmings and the odd piece of furniture on a Wednesday. A full unit, a remodel or anything you need gone on a set day is a private haul.

Condo remodels, 40-year recertification and permits

The Town calls itself an oceanfront community of residential neighborhoods and seaside multi-family buildings, and a lot of its housing is condos near the beach. The Town Building Department, also at 9293 Harding Avenue, runs online permitting and a 40-Year Recertification Program. The Town's welcome brochure says most construction activity requires a building permit.

Your GC or you as the owner pull that permit, and your condo association will have its own rules on work hours, elevators and debris. Rapid Haul does the non-structural part of a condo remodel: flooring to the slab, kitchen cabinets, vanities, tile and drywall, then the haul-out. Room tear-outs start at $750, and hauling a remodeler's leftover debris starts at $200. Dany does not pull permits, and the work stays non-structural, never anything that holds up the house.

On the 2020 Census, Surfside had 3,675 housing units and 37.4% of them were vacant on Census day. If you are not in town, that is fine. Send Dany photos of the unit, put him in touch with your building manager, and he will price the job and schedule it around the building's rules. The crew protects the hallway and elevator on the way out, loads the truck, and sweeps the unit before they leave.

If you would rather take it yourself, the Town notes that all Miami-Dade residents can dispose of bulk trash at the North Dade or South Dade landfill for a fee. Whether Surfside residents can use the county's Trash and Recycling Centers is not stated, so call ahead before you load a car.
