Great Waste, not the county, handles the curb in Biscayne Park

Since July 1, 2021, the village's provider has been Great Waste and Recycling Services. It covers household trash, yard waste, bulk and recycling. Requests go to Great Waste at 305-798-7414 or biscaynepark@great-waste.com. The village is direct about the limits: no hazardous chemicals or construction debris are permitted.

You may hear neighbors in other parts of Miami-Dade talk about two free 25-yard bulky pickups a year. That is the county's program, and Biscayne Park is not on the county's list of served cities, so it does not apply here. The village's pickup schedule is posted as an image, and its bulk limits and yard waste rules are not published as text we could read. Call Great Waste before you put anything out.

Where a private haul makes sense: remodel debris of any kind, a whole-house or estate cleanout, or a pile you need gone on your schedule rather than the next bulk day.

Drop-off: what's not available here

Miami-Dade's Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers are limited to residents of unincorporated Miami-Dade and ten listed cities. Biscayne Park is not one of them. We did not find a village or hauler drop-off site for residents either. The county runs Home Chemical Collection Centers, but whether Biscayne Park residents can use them is not confirmed, so ask before you drive there.

So for most people here, the practical setup is Great Waste for ordinary household bulk and a private hauler for everything else. That second part is what Rapid Haul does.

Remodels and permits in the village

The Village of Biscayne Park Building, Permits and Zoning department has a Building Permit Coordinator at 305-899-8000 or building@biscayneparkfl.gov, at 600 NE 114 Street. Its page lists electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roofing, pool, fencing and interior or exterior construction or repair permits. It does not mention demolition specifically, and the master fee schedule was amended June 18, 2026. Ask the coordinator what your tear-out needs before work starts.

Your general contractor or you as the owner pulls the permit. Rapid Haul does not. Dany's crew does the non-structural tear-out and the haul: tile, cabinets, vanities, flooring and drywall out and gone. Since construction debris is not permitted in village collection, that haul has to happen somehow. Room demo starts at $750 and construction debris hauling at $200.

A 1920s village and its homes

Biscayne Park was platted as Griffing Biscayne Park Estates in 1921, incorporated as a town on December 31, 1931, and became a village in 1933. Its Village Hall is a log cabin built by the Works Progress Administration from Dade County pine, finished in 1935 and still used for commission meetings. North Miami is to the north and Miami Shores to the south, with the Biscayne Canal along the southwest edge and the Florida East Coast Railway along the southeast.

In 2020 the village had 1,312 housing units, 7.0% vacant, and 1,220 households, with a homeowner vacancy rate of just 1.4%. A small, settled village like this one is where estate cleanouts and full house cleanouts come up: decades of furniture, garage storage and keepsakes that a family needs cleared before a sale or a renovation.
