Hialeah Gardens bulk days, and what is not published

Hialeah Gardens is not one of the cities Miami-Dade County's Department of Solid Waste Management serves, so the county's bulky appointment system does not apply here. The city runs bulk trash on its own calendar. Its 2026 public notice says bulk can only go out on the dates for your area, and the dates are posted on the city website under Bulk Trash Dates.

The notice sets three rules. Keep bulk separate from tree debris. Keep each pile no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet. And do not set items out more than 24 hours early, or you can be fined. A 2024 notice carried the same rules.

Some things the city does not publish online: which company collects, and which items bulk pickup refuses. Call the city before you count on bulk day for appliances, construction debris or anything heavy. If the answer is no, or the date is weeks away, Dany takes it on your schedule.

Tear-outs, unpermitted additions and the Building Department

Permits here come from the City of Hialeah Gardens Building Department at 10001 NW 87th Avenue, next to City Hall, (305) 558-4114, open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. The city's violation page describes owners applying for a demolition permit to remove construction built without the required permit, then calling for inspections. That is the route for an enclosure or add-on that was built without a permit.

Your general contractor, or you as the owner, pulls the permit. Rapid Haul does not. Dany's part is the non-structural tear-out and the haul: cabinets, tile, flooring, fixtures, an old shed or fence, plus the debris your own crew leaves behind. Never anything that holds up the house. Room demo starts at $750 and shed removal at $350.

Because the county Trash and Recycling Centers are not open to Hialeah Gardens residents, and no city drop-off site is on record, remodel debris here needs a hauler or a container.

Single-story homes with carports and yards

Hialeah Gardens was incorporated in 1948 and started as a rural community where horse raising was a major industry. A 1968 land use and zoning master plan brought growth near Okeechobee Road and the Palmetto Expressway. Wikipedia describes it as mostly single-story development.

The 2020 Census counted 23,068 people and 7,395 housing units, with only 1.9% vacant and a homeowner vacancy rate of 0.3%. With so few homes empty, the jobs here tend to be a carport or garage that filled up over years, a back room cleared for a relative, or an estate cleanout when a house finally changes hands.

How pricing and same-day pickup work here

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood and works Miami-Dade as one of its two main counties. Text a photo to (754) 249-1015. Dany answers himself and sends one flat, all-in price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Same-day pickup is often possible when you call early, Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.

Junk removal is paid after the job. Jobs of $1,000 and over, mostly demolition, take a 50% deposit. Starting prices:

Working with your bulk date instead of against it

One way to split the job: the light, legal items go out on their area's bulk date in a pile under 6 by 6 feet, and Dany takes the rest. That works if your date is close. If it is not, or the pile is bigger than the city allows, one haul is simpler than storing junk in the carport for weeks.
