Junk removal in Lazy Lake, the one-street village inside Wilton Manors
Junk removal, cleanouts and non-structural tear-outs on Lazy Lane. Text Dany a photo, get one flat, all-in price, and pay after the junk is gone.
01What Lazy Lake's own pickup takes, and when a hauler makes sense
Lazy Lake is not Wilton Manors when it comes to trash. The village has its own contract with Coastal Waste, Inc.: garbage goes out Tuesday and Friday, recycling on Tuesday, and bulk pickup comes once a month, on the third Tuesday. The houses on the other side of NE 24 Street run on a different schedule, so their bulk day does not help you.
The village site does not publish a bulk size limit or a list of refused items. If you are planning a big pile, ask the village first. For most people the real limit is the calendar: one bulk day a month. Clearing a whole house, emptying a garage before a sale or swapping out furniture in a rental can mean a pile sitting on the swale for weeks. That is when a hauler makes sense. Dany loads from wherever the stuff sits, inside or out, and it leaves the same day.
You can also haul it yourself. Lazy Lake is on Broward County's participating list for bulk and yard waste at the residential drop-off centers. They are open Saturdays only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with proof of residency, up to four times a month. The county turns away vehicles larger than a 1-ton pickup and trailers longer than 8 feet, so a full room of furniture can turn into several Saturdays.
02Tear-outs and permits on Lazy Lane
Lazy Lake has no building department of its own. Building permits are handled by the Broward County Building Code Division under an interlocal agreement. The county's permitting guide lists the village as a paper municipality: permit packages go in physically at 4101 Ravenswood Road, Suite 300, Dania Beach, and plan review is by physical submittal too. Build that time into your schedule before a kitchen or bathroom job.
The GC or the property owner pulls the permit. Rapid Haul does not. What Dany does is the non-structural tear-out (cabinets, vanities, tile, flooring, drywall, fixtures) and the haul-away of everything that comes out. He does not touch anything that holds the house up.
The village's Permitting and Code Enforcement page links its Land Development Regulations. If you are not sure your project needs a permit, read those or call the county division before anything comes out.

03Thirteen homes around an old quarry
Lazy Lake is the smallest municipality in Broward County by area. It began in 1946 as 13 homes on 13 acres around a former rock quarry that became the lake, and it was incorporated in 1953. Lazy Lane is the only road. The 2020 Census counted 33 people in 8 households, and the whole village sits inside Wilton Manors.
On a street this small, the work comes one house at a time: a bathroom or kitchen tear-out, a garage or furniture cleanout, or a full house cleanout when a home changes hands. The village is also starting a vacation rental program, and rentals need old furniture out and rooms cleared between owners and guests.
With one road in and out, where the truck parks matters to your neighbors. Tell Dany about your driveway when you text and he will plan the load around it.

Lazy Lake: common questions
Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.
When is bulk pickup in Lazy Lake?
The third Tuesday of each month, with Coastal Waste, Inc., per the village. Garbage is Tuesday and Friday and recycling is Tuesday. Wilton Manors schedules do not apply to Lazy Lake.
Can Lazy Lake residents use the Broward County drop-off centers?
Yes. Lazy Lake is on the county's participating list for bulk and yard waste. The centers open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you need proof of residency. You can go up to four times a month.
Who issues building permits in Lazy Lake?
The Broward County Building Code Division, under contract with the village. Packages are filed on paper at the county office in Dania Beach. Your GC or you as the owner pull the permit. Rapid Haul does the non-structural tear-out and the haul.
Is there a limit on how much bulk I can put out?
The village site does not publish one, and it does not list refused items. Ask the village before you build a big pile, or text Dany a photo and have it hauled the same day instead of waiting for the third Tuesday.
How much does a cleanout cost?
Garage cleanouts start at $300 and full house cleanouts at $1,000. Dany gives one flat price after a photo, and junk removal is paid after the job.
