What Davie's monthly bulk pickup takes, and where it falls short

Davie's trash, recycling and bulk are collected by Coastal Waste & Recycling, the Town's contracted hauler since June 1, 2021. Furniture, mattresses and carpets are on the Town's list of accepted bulk items, so a sofa can go out at the curb. Homes with curbside service get bulk once a month, on a date you find with the Town's Bulk Trash Locator.

The problem is timing. The Town says bulk can go out on the Sunday right before your pickup date, not sooner. If the new bedroom set lands the week after your date, the old one waits in the garage or the living room for close to a month. Condo and multifamily buildings with dumpsters only get bulk four times a year, and the last 2026 round is November 5 to 7.

A hauler makes sense when the old piece has to be gone before the new one arrives, when getting it to the curb is the hard part, or when your HOA or COA has its own bulk rules. The Town notes those associations may have different regulations, so check yours before you drag a couch to the swale.

The carry is the part people call about

Most Davie furniture calls are not about the haul. They are about getting a sleeper sofa through a hallway turn, a solid wood dresser down the stairs, or a sectional out of a back room without gouging the door frame. That is the job Dany's crew does. They take legs and cushions off, split sectionals into pieces, and carry everything out.

Two out of three Davie homes are owner-occupied, according to Census figures, and the average household has 2.74 people. That adds up to a lot of family furniture: bunk beds the kids outgrew, a dining set from the last house, patio chairs that finally gave out on the screened porch. All of it fits in one visit.

Mirrors and glass need extra care at the curb. The Town asks that they be placed in a rigid container and taped before bulk day. When Rapid Haul takes a mirrored dresser or a glass tabletop, the crew carries it straight to the truck, so you skip that step.

What furniture removal costs in Davie

Furniture removal starts at $125. That is one piece from an easy spot, like a recliner just inside the front door. More pieces, heavier pieces and longer carries raise the number. Dany looks at your photo and gives you one flat price that covers labor, loading, hauling and disposal. You pay after the job.

Compare that to the Town's own system. Bulk over the monthly limit is billed per yard, plus a franchise fee, on top of the wait. With Rapid Haul there is one number and no second bill.

If an old fridge, a treadmill or a stack of boxes is going too, put it in the same photo. Appliance removal starts at $100, and Dany prices the whole trip as one job rather than separate visits.

Hauling it to Reese Road yourself, or booking a pickup

Davie residents can take bulk to Broward County's Central Residential Drop-Off Center at 5490 Reese Road. It is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and accepts furniture, appliances and yard waste. The Town says to bring two proofs of residency: a government photo ID and a document with your Davie address, such as a tax bill or utility bill.

It works if you have a pickup truck, a helper and a free Saturday. The County turns away vehicles larger than a 1-ton pickup, truck beds longer than 8 feet and trailers longer than 8 feet, and each resident may use the centers up to four times a month. A loveseat fits. A full bedroom set plus a sectional usually means several trips and a sore back.

If that sounds like your weekend gone, text Dany the photo instead.

Booking a Davie pickup

Davie is one of the five cities Dany works most, and Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood. A Florida Department of Transportation study notes that Davie abuts Hollywood's northwestern corner. Same-day pickup is often possible when you call early. Dany answers the phone himself Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.

If you live in a gated community, send the gate instructions with the photo so the crew gets in without a call from the guardhouse. Rapid Haul carries $1M general liability insurance, and proof is available if your association asks for it.

How a furniture removal job runs in Davie

  1. Step 1

Check the piece and the path

The crew looks at what is going and the route out: doors, stairs, turns and elevator.

  2. Step 2

Take apart if needed and carry

Legs, cushions and sections come off when that makes the carry safer. Then we carry it out without dragging it across your floors.

  3. Step 3

    Load and haul away

The furniture goes on the truck and to proper disposal. That is included in your flat price.

  4. Step 4

    Sweep the spot

We sweep where the furniture stood, since there is always dust and lost change under a couch. Then you pay.

Davie: common questions

Something else on your mind? Call (754) 249-1015.

Will Davie's bulk pickup take my old couch?

Yes. Furniture is on the Town's accepted bulk list. It goes out on your monthly date, and not before the Sunday ahead of it. If you need it gone sooner, Rapid Haul can pick it up.

How much is furniture removal in Davie?

It starts at $125 for a single piece from an easy spot. Dany gives one flat price for everything in your photo, including labor, loading, hauling and disposal.

I live in a Davie condo. When is my bulk day?

The Town says condo and multifamily buildings with dumpsters get bulk quarterly. The 2026 dates are in February, May, August and November 5 to 7. Between those dates, a hauler is the faster route.

Can you get a mattress down from a second floor?

Yes. The crew carries it from the bedroom to the truck. Mention the stairs when you text the photo so the price includes them.

Can you come today?

Often, yes, when you call or text early in the day. Davie is one of Dany's regular cities, so a same-day slot is common.
