Junk removal in Gulf Stream, for yard debris and remodel loads outside the town contract

01

What Coastal Waste collects in Gulf Stream, and what it doesn't

Gulf Stream has a franchise agreement with Coastal Waste. Garbage is collected twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and east of the Intracoastal and in Place Au Soleil it is back-door service: you leave it just outside the side door or garage door. Recycling goes out Saturdays. Yard waste and bulk are collected on Wednesday.

The big exception is landscaping. The Town says lawn maintenance firms and tree trimmers must take their cuttings with them, because the Coastal Waste contract does not include cuttings and lawn maintenance debris, and pickups outside the contract may be billed. Bulk item limits and excluded items are not published on an official Town page, so for anything large, call Public Works at 561-276-5116 or send Dany a photo.

Tear-outs and permits: Highland Beach issues them

Gulf Stream does not run its own building department. Under an interlocal agreement, the Town of Highland Beach handles all building permits and inspections, digitally, on Highland Beach forms through the MGO portal under the Gulf Stream jurisdiction. Gulf Stream keeps all zoning authority, and its zoning requirements and fees must be met before Highland Beach issues any permit. Contractors also sign and upload the first page of the Gulf Stream Construction Handbook.

That is all handled by your GC or you as the owner. Rapid Haul does not pull permits. Dany's crew does the non-structural tear-out (kitchens, baths, flooring, interior partition walls, decks) and hauls the debris to an SWA facility. With an Architectural Review and Planning Board administering design guidelines, a crew that loads quickly and leaves the drive swept matters here.

Estate homes, the golf club and Place au Soleil

Gulf Stream was chartered in 1925 and grew around the Gulf Stream Golf Club, with a clubhouse by Addison Mizner and a course by Donald Ross, and the Gulf Stream Polo Club. Early oceanfront homes were built by Palm Beach architects, and several still exist. The polo fields became single-family lots in the 1960s, and post-war cottages were replaced by larger homes. A1A through town keeps the only remaining Australian pine canopy, designated a historic and scenic highway.

The Town covers 537 acres with no commercial or industrial zoning. It has 662 housing units, 88% of occupied homes are owner-occupied, and the median age is 59.3. Place au Soleil, established in 1960 west of the Intracoastal, is the only subdivision off the barrier island. On lots like these, the jobs that fit are large yard clear-outs, estate cleanouts and interior remodels.

How Rapid Haul works in Gulf Stream

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood and serves Palm Beach County by request, when the job is worth the drive. Text a photo to (754) 249-1015 and Dany will tell you straight whether he can take it, then give you one flat price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Palm Beach County jobs are scheduled ahead, not same-day.

Starting prices that fit Gulf Stream: deck demo from $550, room demo from $750, construction debris pickup from $200 and full house cleanouts from $1,000. Yard and estate jobs are a flat price after a photo or a quick look. Junk removal is paid after the job, and jobs of $1,000 and over take a 50% deposit.
