What Jupiter's WM pickup takes, and the one big exclusion

The Town of Jupiter contracts its trash service directly with WM (Waste Management), customer service 772-546-7700. Bulk means non-vegetative items that cannot be put in a cart, bagged or bundled: refrigerators, ranges, toilets, washers, dryers, bathtubs, water heaters, sinks, bicycles, household goods and furniture. Put them out at the curb on your first collection day of the week.

Then comes the exclusion. The Town says plainly that construction and demolition debris is not acceptable. Its advice is to haul construction debris yourself or get a quote from WM or an outside company. That is the gap Rapid Haul fills on a Jupiter remodel: drywall, tile, cabinets, flooring and lumber loaded and taken away, with construction debris from $200.

Two smaller rules catch people. Extra household trash is not bulk, and if you have excess often, WM will want you on an additional cart. And anything WM will not take gets tagged with an explanation and left behind.

Generous yard waste, with bundle rules

Jupiter is known for lush landscaping, and the Town is generous with yard waste: vegetative waste is collected twice a week on regular garbage days, up to eight cubic yards, which the Town compares to a pile about 12 feet long, 4 feet high and 4.5 feet wide. Branches must be bundled and tied, no longer than 6 feet and no heavier than 50 pounds. Grass, leaves and twigs go in tied bags or lidded containers of 32 gallons or less, 50 pounds or less.

Larger piles of yard waste need a special pickup from WM (800-824-8472). If you are clearing a big overgrown section or a whole side yard and do not want to cut and bundle it, send Dany a photo.

Demolition permits and work hours in Jupiter

Permits come from the Town of Jupiter Building Department, not the county: 210 Military Trail, 561-741-2286, tojbuilding@jupiter.fl.us, with applications through the Jupiter Community Development System portal. The Town's demolition checklist includes proof of ownership, a Palm Beach County Health Department septic abandonment permit if one applies, an Asbestos Notification Statement, any MEP sub-permits and a site plan. All utility services must be disconnected and inspected before demolition starts.

Town Code Sec. 13-114 limits demolition and other building work to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays without permission. The GC or the property owner pulls the permit; Rapid Haul does not. Rapid Haul does non-structural tear-out and the haul, within those hours. Room demo starts at $750, with a 50% deposit on jobs of $1,000 and over.

Jupiter homes and the jobs they bring

About 78.5% of Jupiter homes are owner-occupied, the median owner-occupied value is $608,600, and close to a quarter of residents are 65 or older. The town had about 30,700 housing units in 2020. Areas range from Abacoa, the downtown area by the Wilkes Honors College in southwest Jupiter, to Harbourside Place near the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.

With most homes owner-occupied, the jobs that fit are remodel debris, garage cleanouts from $300, furniture removal from $125 and downsizing cleanouts from $1,000. Tequesta is to the north and Juno Beach to the south.

How Rapid Haul handles Palm Beach County jobs

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood. Broward and Miami-Dade are the main service area, and Palm Beach County is by request, when the job is worth the drive. That usually means a full cleanout, a tear-out or a large load, not a single chair. Call or text (754) 249-1015 with photos and Dany will tell you straight whether he can take it and when.

When he can, you get one flat, all-in price covering labor, loading, hauling and disposal. Junk removal is paid after the job. If you would rather self-haul, the SWA North County Transfer Station is at 14185 N Military Trail, where loads are weighed and tipping fees charged, and household chemicals are free for county residents at its Home Chemical and Recycling Center.
