Pickup days and the Town's rules

Jupiter Inlet Colony is collected by Waste Management of Martin County. The schedule is Tuesday for trash, yard waste and recycling, Wednesday for bulk waste, and Friday for trash and yard waste. The Town's page says containers can go out after 6:00 p.m. the day before and must be back in by 6:00 p.m. on pickup day; the Town Code says 9:00 p.m., so ask the Resident Services Coordinator (561-746-3787 ext. 1) if it matters to you.

The Town Code is specific about yard trash. Loose small yard trash goes in covered containers of 32 gallons or less, 50 pounds or less. Palm fronds and prunings must be cut to 4 feet or shorter in units of 50 pounds or less, out no more than three days before collection. Nothing goes out while any part of Palm Beach County is in the National Hurricane Center five-day cone. Landscapers working here must register with the Town clerk.

The Town does not publish a size limit for Wednesday bulk. For a whole room of furniture or a garage's worth of junk, a haul-away is often simpler than splitting it over several weeks.

Renovation debris here goes through WM of Martin County

This is the rule to know before any project. Town Code requires every construction site to provide a dumpster or other suitable container for construction debris, and it cannot sit in the Town right-of-way. The Town's building permit page says that when a dumpster is used at a construction site, it must be provided by Waste Management of Martin County, and the permit application points owners to WM at 772-546-7700 for a roll-off under the Town's franchise agreement.

So debris from a permitted renovation or demolition in Jupiter Inlet Colony may have to go through WM, not Rapid Haul. Dany will tell you what applies before you book, and he will not quote around the franchise. Where Rapid Haul fits best here is the junk that is not construction debris: furniture, patio sets, appliances and household cleanouts.

Permits, committee review and work hours

The Town of Jupiter Inlet Colony Building Department is at Town Hall, 50 Colony Road. New permits go through the MGO portal, in person at Town Hall, or by email to Building@jupiterinletcolony.gov, and contractors register through MGO first. Major renovations and new construction need review by the Building and Zoning Committee before you apply. The demolition permit fee is $350 minimum or 3% of the cost of demolition, whichever is greater.

Construction hours are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with none on Sundays or legal holidays, and the road and valley gutter in front of the property must be swept clean every day. The GC or the owner pulls permits. Rapid Haul does not.

A small colony at the tip of Jupiter Island

Jupiter Inlet Colony is tiny: 405 residents and 174 households at the 2020 Census. It sits at the southern tip of Jupiter Island on the north bank of Jupiter Inlet, next to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area, reached by County Road 707 over the Indian River Lagoon. It is one colony rather than a set of neighborhoods, on streets like Beacon Lane, Colony Road, Ocean Drive, Shelter Lane, Lighthouse Drive and Treasure Place. Current housing counts and ownership rates are not published for a town this size.

The Town and Jupiter across the lagoon, and Tequesta to the north of CR 707, are the nearest neighbors.

How a job here gets priced

Rapid Haul is based in Hollywood. Broward and Miami-Dade are the main area, and Palm Beach County is by request, when the job is worth the drive. Text photos to (754) 249-1015. Dany answers himself, tells you whether it fits the Town's rules and his schedule, and quotes one flat, all-in price. Furniture removal starts at $125, appliance removal at $100 and house cleanouts at $1,000. Junk removal is paid after the job.
